Proceedings:

India has been witnessing a shortage in the blood units across various blood banks due to increased demand and a low number of donors which has created a challenge for people who are in need of emergency procedures and require blood. In order to extend help to the people suffering from life-threatening conditions, N.S.D. Educational Welfare Trust in collaboration with Jangipur Super Specialty Hospital organized a blood donation camp on 27th December, 2020 at D.M.C College Aurangabad, Murshidabad.

The core team of N.S.D. Educational Welfare Trust gathered at 9:30 am in the morning to set up the location. Decorations were put up to attract the common public towards blood donation camp and awareness was spread in the locality about blood donation through miking.

The blood donation camp was inaugurated with an opening ceremony where the students of the college staged a dance performance. The medical team from Jangipur Super Specialty Hospital reached the venue and the students welcomed them. Blood donors started arriving from 10:30am. Each donor was given nourishment food, gifts and flowers for their noble job of donating blood.

Among the eminent guests, Dr Surajit Karmakar, M.D. Jiayaur Rahaman, M.D. Hasan and David Shaikh donated blood. In the closing ceremony the guests gave speeches about the need of more such blood donation camps in future and thanked N.S.D. Educational Welfare Trust for organizing such an event where the youths of the locality (under 27 years old) have taken the responsibility of helping thousands of people who are battling pre-existing medical conditions and are in dire need of blood.

Debrief:

The team discussed about the impact of the blood donation camp and from the responses they received while conducting the camp, the team unanimously agreed that the camp was very successful. They planned to organize more such blood camps in future where more emphasis would be given to increase the participation of blood donors.
